So much better than the knock-offs
True Yamaha pedals are much more substantial than the after-market ones. We've tried and have given up on the knock-offs because of the following partial list of problems: 1) flexible base under the pedal allows the whole thing to flex down and thus not trip the switch reliably, 2) internal switch connection unreliable, 3) light weight and slides around.

simple essential tool
Shifting was getting erratic and there was increased noise from the drive train. Quick check showed it was the chain which had stretched beyond tolerance.
