Fit for my purpose.

Needed special fittings for a guttering project and these made the job a lot easier. Useful addition to the toolbox.

Mira Extreme/Event XS pump and motor assembly (453.03)

Expensive for what it is and appears not tested by Mira.

After the motor pump unit had become incredibly noisy on our 5 year old Event XS we established we needed a new one, so we opted to purchase one as it looked the quickest and cheapest option at the time. The service and delivery from Showershack was excellent. However, after fitting the new pump which is fairly straightforward if not fiddly, it was dead, so up and down the loft again and down the stairs to isolate power and water again, I decided to re fit the old noisy pump to make sure it was a faulty pump and indeed it was. Showershack again were excellent in sending another another one next day with a returns bag for the dead one. I wasn't going to get caught out this time, so I checked the resistance across the terminals first and it was a good 80k Ohms so was fairly certain this one was okay, I discovered the first one was open circuit, which in hindsight I should have checked before fitting, but in my haste I thought it would be tested at the factory but no indication they are. For good measure I put a test lead on the new one as well before the rigmarole of fitting it in again and it powered up and run a treat so it was swapped with confidence this time and gladly the shower is working as normal again and if the pump/motor lasts a few years I will be happy, so I can't really say if it is good quality or not yet. Moral of the tale, test it before you fit it as it appears Mira or their supplier do not and whilst it was replaced quickly by Showershack, and their service is excellent, they can't replace the few hours lost, which, had my time been charged it would have ended up more expensive than calling Mira out to replace it themselves!
