THese streams come from the same Source! :-)
A terrific book! It's always nice to see things from a cultural perspective you may not have a firm grasp on. This book lays out some terrific views of how people view Christ, and live accordingly. Highly recommended!

1001 Classic Commercials (DVD, 2009)
I agree with others that this is a mighty fun collection of old commercials of all types (which are clumped together by type: cigarettes, toys, etc.) However, I disagree with one writer who wished the poorer-quality reproductions be left out. The originals may not have been available, for one reason. But I do agree that if originals could have been better-reproduced, they should have. Some of the old color commercials look like they were taped with an old vidicon-tube camera, which shows up with colors bleeding all over the place, washed-out video, and so on. It is unfortunate that they were not reproduced with modern CCD-chip cameras, but at least the audio is good throughout, save the more beat-up films from the 1950s. There is a disclaimer that some commercials have been better-preserved than others. As a former broadcaster who enjoys collecting old commercials, bloopers, and pretty much anything related to radio and TV, this is a MUST-HAVE for your collection of memorabilia, and of all that was considered good "back in the day!"

Bought used, but there are reliability issues. :-(
This is the third ART DI box I have purchased (the other two I have were the original issue). I was hoping that the reliability issues I had with one of the two boxes I originally purchased had been resolved, but apparently not. In fairness, I bought this unit used, so I do not know if these issues existed when new or not. There is a lot more to this DI than the ones originally sold, and I have yet to put it through its paces with other audio sources. I love the addition of the meter (although there are some mysteries as to exactly how to interpret it). I also love that there are some subtleties with the rotator dial regarding the EQ of the input! So far, I have only put an electric guitar into it, and have yet to try it as a microphone DI -- I look forward to doing so in the near future! But when I brought it to church to use as a DI for a guitar, when I plugged it into the PA system via XLR cable out, the meter pegged (all the way to the right), and there was no sound! I tried a couple times, and it would peg every time I plugged in the line out via XLR. When I tried it out at home, I used it with the 1/4" line, and also had some problems with "pretend" audio -- LED showed overmodulation, but did not get sound. Again, in fairness, it acts strangely until the tube (12AX7) warmed up. After a minute or two, the unit settled down. This DI has potential -- I just hope that others work more reliably than mine has so far. But again, this is a used unit, and I need to work it over some more, to see if it's the design, or just that it may have a lot of miles on it.
