For those of you who have never heard of or seen Claudine, you are sure to enjoy this wonderful film about a woman doin' all she can to do to make ends meet, raising, I believe, 5 kids alone.
This film is set in the late sixties to early seventies, so it's definatly got a lot of negative undertones that were common with a lot of African American films of that time, but given the circumstances, the characters were doing what they thought was acceptable.
You definately have to watch this one with a open heart and mind and if you are not used to seeing a film that is really real concerning the African American experience of that generation, it may be a little uncomfortable for you.
The soundtrack to this film was scored by the amazing Curtis Mayfield and has wonderfully soulful music Featuring Gladys Knight and the Pips. This film wowed me when I first saw it for the music alone!!!!
You can kind of get a jist of the times with songs Like " Mr. Welfare", "To be Invisble" and "The makings of You to Name a Few". Just a fantastic film!!!!

"Enough is Enough!!!!"
What can I say, I like J-Lo. This film again is one of those moments that as an actress, she was in rare form.
This, is of course, a somewhat predictable story line of a woman who is sick and tired, of being sick and tired, of a man beatin' her down and she wants to get out of it, by any means nessecary. Even so a fantastic film.
Just proves looks can always be decieving when it comes to actors and to relationships. Love can sometimes be blind and in her case black and blue.
Great film to own and recieves four **** in my book!!!!

Chocolat!!! A treat to watch!!!!
Let me first start by saying that I am the ultimate chic, flick, fan! I just enjoy knowing that the ending will be a happy one or at least working toward the benefit of a woman who has had "Enough", like JLo or will not stand to be abused and will not " Sleep with The Enemy" like Julia Roberts!!!
This film unlike those I just described, is much more empowering and heartwarming. It is the story of a woman who is in every sense of the word,a free spirit and completely beats to her own, huge, red, gypsy, sounding, drum!
After traveling a great distance she and her daughter decide to take up residence in a town that is full of complete unbelievers of this life mantra. Once there, she of course has to agravate a few folks with the fact that she is completely and utterly secure in who she is and won't allow there insecurities from living and opening the only Chocalaterie in the town.
With amazing actors such as Judiee Dench, Johnie Depp and Juliette Benoche, you can't go wrong.Filled with simplicity and reason and reminders of why life is to be lived, this is defiantely one to be watched and owned.
If you have a Saturday Afternoon that's free in the near future, host a Chocolat matinee. You will be glad you did!!!
