There are two settings for the alarm - soft AND loud. There is not much difference between the two. The "Loud" is not much different from the "Soft."

Grips in ways I did not imagine
I bought these for use during the winter for use in snow and on ice. Prior to that I found they do grip in a way far better than I expected. Someone spilled liquid detergent on the hallway carpet outside my apartment making for a very slippery floor. The Yaktrax allowed me to walk safely, gripping the carpet underneath so I did not slip or fall.
