THE BEGINNER'S COW - SCHMIDTBERGER, LOREN - NEW PAPERBACK BOOK

Rememinces of times past, yet acceptance of things in a changing world.

As a man of Volga German descent who grew up in the same Kansas County as the author Loren Schmidtberger, I am familiar with many of the locations and institutions he refers to in this book. It also serves to remind me of the traditional values and customs preserved by the Volga Germans. And of the very frugal and simple way that farm families lived during the Great Depression. I especially like this book because Mr. Schmidtberger discusses his son being gay and in a relationship nonjudgementally for a man who was steeped in Roman Catholicism from birth. It reflects an openness to changing public acceptance toward homosexuality in today's world. I fear that not all people of Volga German descent would be so open-minded.

Fine mesh strainer is good at capturing most of the large crumbs in the oil. Not easy to find a strainer that is easy to clean as this one is, because of its wide mouth. Strainer is designed to last a long time.

Too small for young children

This product is not suitable for very young children. The animals in this collection are too small and present a choking hazard for children 3 years old or younger. Otherwise the animals in this collection are excellent quality and would be suitable for older children
