Just as effective as water coolers
It's a great CPU cooler and it always has been, since I've been using these everywhere for the past 5 years. It's insanely cheap and keeps notoriously power-hungry CPUs cool. It's definitely bigger than a stock cooler, but it's definitely worth every penny. The best part is, it came included with all mounting hardware.

It works with X5000-series Xeons out of the box
I was worried about if the BIOS was recent enough to support two X5672 CPUs since they need a more recent BIOS in order to work, but it seems that it works with no issues so far out of the box. I still need to update the BIOS to the most recent version, but it works fine with every onboard device detected by Ubuntu Server with no special configuration. The board was in a good condition when I received it, too, with no leaking capacitors.

Works great
It's fragile and breaks easy as the glass casing isn't particularly strong, but it's got the perfect amount of sensitivity to work reliably. I've started sticking these reed switches in random places as they work well for bridging things together through casings of existing products
