Where's Ray?
The cover of this CD is very deceiving. Ray is only on half of it at most. The other half is instrumental. There is another guest singer on one tune who is quite good as well. It's as well recorded as any of the previous Emmons/ Pennington collaborations BUT I think something musta gone wrong during these sessions 'cause there is so little of Ray's vocals. The instrumentals are fair to middlin.

Too brittle - easy breakage
Fender designed these knobs to have the same characteristics as the original 1954 Stratocaster plastic parts. It's cool that they are the original design with mini-skirt knobs, differently shaped switch tip and round holes on the back-plate. However, Fender went too far with the brittle plastic formula. I have two '54 60th Anniversary Strats - 1 Heavy relic and 1 American Vintage. The knobs cracked (see photo) as a function of weather changes and the stress of the poles on which they sit. I'm the L.A. area and weather changes are not very severe but it is a dry climate. I have replaced the original knobs with these aftermarket Fender parts and they cracked again but only when fitted to the guitar. I keep a couple of spare sets that haven't cracked (yet) in the package.

Drop Outs - get the other mini-LP version
Just as the other reviewer noted, this CD (UICY-78270) has drop-outs. The worst of them can be heard on the track "00-711" (especially at 1 minute 53 seconds) and on both the stereo and mono versions. This is most unfortunate and indicates that the mono versions on this CD are just the stereo versions folded - the dropouts are in the same exact places.
There is a better mini-LP version of this album (TOCP-67952) with a different cover. It came out in 2006. It's a darker cover showing The Ventures in performance and lists only 3 titles on the cover. It has a cool picture on the back with The Ventures in front of a 007 Thunderball poster. It still has the unfortunate dropouts on the stereo tracks but NOT on the mono tracks. The mono tracks on that version sound great.
It is sad that the 2017 version didn't use the same mono version that the 2006 version used. I think they are issued by the same company as the Japanese liner notes are exactly the same on both versions.
No good stereo version of this Ventures "Batman" album has been commercially released on CD. One Way records was the first to notice that a good stereo master tape was not to be found. Hence, they used a monaural master tape that had no drop-outs.
