Nice sound improvement over onboard audio.
While I do not consider myself an audiophile I do enjoy clean, strong sound as a gamer. I have used onboard audio for the last 15+ years and have always been happy with it.
Upon installation and setup my teammates on discord commented on how clear my voice is now and their voices are more distinct as well. The sound effects on things like weapon reload, footsteps, etc are crisper and more detailed.
While this sound card is technically plug and play there is a requirement to adjust your settings and equalizer to make it shine. While a lot of people claim that sound cards are a waste/ unnecessary I found that there is an improvement in quality using the Asus Strict Raid DLX 7.1. I chose to ignore the general consensus that sound cards and 7.1 are a gimmick and found that is truly works if o e is willing to tweak and test their settings. Also, don't install the drivers from the disc. Go to the manufacturer website for drivers.
I have paired this sound card to a Razer Tiamat V2 7.1 and am very pleased with the results.
As with any important purchase, do your homework and be ready to sift through the reviews and opinions that end up being bias or BS. Don't bee afraid to form your own opinion.
