Yaesu FT 450D Radio Transceiver

Great portable radio for intermediate Hams
Yaesu did a great job on the FT-450D. The dimensions are quite small which makes this model very portal. Excellent for field exercises like Parks On The Air, Field Day, etc. The controls are well designed to match the smallish front panel size. Menus are not too deep.
New hams may find the large quantity of features confusing, but default settings are good for most. The DSP is easy to use. Despite a little lower quality DSP audio than more expensive units the DSP does an excellent job at this price point and does a great job of improving copy ability.

Works well, but terrible battery life
Bought this boresight as a gift for one of my many old service buddies. He says it works very well outdoors. Focus is tight enough to use indoors. He did say it burns through a set of batteries in just a few minutes though. I dont know how many of the button cells it takes, but it arrived with several included. Maybe better quality batteries will help?
