Highly Recommended
Collier should clearly be a National A-list Act. The song writing and wry emotionalism of these songs are well worth the cost. About the time that the lyrics have you in tears the are apted to turn and have you laughing. Several songs are re-recordings of songs found on a now out of print 5 song EP. Break out the saw dust for the concrete floor, throw on a three beer buzz and crank this CD up!
Enjoy!

MusiciansRadio.com & SOMAFM.com rock Dave Alvin&Others!
Based on the interview between Kevin McCormick and Dave Alvin I raced to purchase "Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women". This is also the type of great alternate-to the alternate- Country AND Western that SOMAFM.com/Boot Liquor plays.
The web and all of the "networking" media that we have in today's society are all great but the world of music is none-the-less fragmented. It is through the efforts of organizations like MusiciansRadion.net, SOMAFM.com/BootLiquor and KEXP.org that excellent artists remain to be discovered. Alvin, of course has been a longterm main-stay within the music scene. It is through the alternative streaming media that folks from all over this planet can discover everything from retro throw-back Country&Western to Chinese Speed Metal (really!).
Alvin and the Guilty Women is terrific from the first down-beat to the final note. Girl power gives new breath and "spect" to old standards such as Marie Marie and the potentially dreary Patty Page tune, Que Sera Sera. Alas this band pumped life and new jizz into every tune. Up tempo California's Burning continues the vibe from the first tune. The bridge solos rock especially "Boss of the Blues" and "Weight of the World" are stand outs.
The only down side to this exceptional release is the knowledge of the untimely demise of Violinist Amy Farris. Ms. Farris blessed us all with her talents and was kind enough to share them as part of this CD.
5 Stars to the artists and professionals who helped produce/provide this release. This is one that you should go out and actually purchase. Watch for Alvin in a neighborhood near you.

Timely Reading for Those Who Really Wish to Conserve...
2 of 2 found this helpful Wolf's writing is the de facto tresise of our current time. A must read for those of us who claim to be "conservative" yet allow the blatant raiding of the hen house! The slow boil of corruption has been cooking at the liberty that we have been fighting to retain for over 200 years. In seven short years our nation has nearly turned into the empty shell about which Wolf warns. Nine Tenths and counting- read the two Naomis today. Naomi Wolf and Naomi Klien are the "Paul Revere's" of our day. Let us pray to our God- in whatever fashion we choose that this experiment in Democracy transcends the crime and profiteering of this current Administration. Mack Davis needs to re-write his old hit tune of Lubbock Texas in my rear view mirror to mention Crawford Texas in place of Lubbock. Waterboarding should be restricted to Rove and his gang of thugs.
