If you need it, this is a bargain

This style of face plate is useful for Despard triple switches which enjoyed a vogue in the 1950s and 60s. You seldom find them at home centers and even hardware stores are hit or miss. The price was far lower than a local electrical store.

Go with a proven device

I had another of the same model which was damaged trying to extract a bad tape. I knew it did what I needed and interfaced with my TV, so I selected it specifically.

Good basis for a kitbash

As is, it ran well. It was straightforward to install a DCC decoder, but getting the hood and cab off was a bit more difficult than expected. I bought it to modify for a different railroad and a different phase of SW1 construction. Aftermarket parts are available for this modification.
