This is the one you need
I just rebuilt and re geared the Chrysler 8.25” differential in my 1991 Jeep XJ when I noticed I had a pretty serious pinion seal leak. The seal included in the rebuild kit lasted all of 200 miles before it gave up.
The Timken pinion seal is really two seals in one. It seals around the shaft of the pinion gear but also extends out and seals around the base of the head of the pinion gear where the u joint is attached.
When installing on a differential with a crush sleeve, make sure you remove the tires, and, after removing the driveline use your inch pound torque wrench to determine how much force (in inch pounds) is needed to fully rotate your differential prior to pulling the pinion nut. I also marked the nut, the bottom of the differential, and the socket used to remove the nut so I could count the exact turns it took to remove the pinion nut from the pinion gear.
After the new seal is installed, lube it generously and then put the pinion gear and pinion washer and nut back on. Once you get the nut tight to the point you need an impact gun, or a long breaker bar, check and double check with your inch pound torque wrench to insure you aren’t over/under tightening the pinion nut. If all goes well you’ll tighten the nut up to the point that you’ll get the same inch pound reading post installation that you had pre installation.

Excellent Quality, Perfect fit
2 of 2 found this helpful Had to replace the lever in my 91 XJ as the wiring had severed due to contact with the steering column housing. This lever fits and looks great, though just like the factory lever, I noticed the wiring rubbed against the column when the lever was pulled up. I modified my column by widening the lever opening at the top about an 1/8th of an inch with a Dremel cutoff wheel. This allowed for clearance for the lever wiring, eliminating the pinch point.

Great Quality and Good Fit
This is a good replacement bezel for the XJ. It comes in bare black plastic and could be mounted right out of the package if you're not concerned about looks. If you do paint your bezel and grill, I would highly recommend using SEM paint for plastic bumpers and trim. It lays down super smooth and will cover in 2 light coats. I initially tried using Krylon paint for plastic, but the results were less than acceptable.
