quite educational!
I had not heard of Dorothy Dunnett until I got this book. She has an incredible knowledge of 1400's Europe and the age of Exploration, the Renaissance, etc.
This book is an astonishingly detailed treatment of those periods, with a multitude of characters and obvious thorough research of those times.
You will come away from this book far more knowledgable about the merchants and world of 500-600 years ago than before you picked it up!

A little excursion into an unusual man's creative, pretty different mind!
Edward Gorey is a unique guy with unique art and unique thoughts. No doubt about it. And I say it this way because I frankly do not "get" many of his drawings, but I do enjoy looking at the ones that are easier to get! His work for Mystery Theatre "drew me" to want to see more of his work. This is certainly a unique book, because it is, after all, about such a "different drummer" kind of person. His take on various subjects is NOT "per usual!"

Every bit as good as name brands
Wanted to upgrade my 8" Schmidt Cass to a 2" diagonal and was appalled at the prices most well known telescope brands are asking for a mere hunk of metal with some screws in it. This is the ticket if you don't want to spend a ton but need the larger visual back. It's rock solid, threads on nice and smooth and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Love it.
