Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
Very nicely written and much historical value. Interesting mix of characters who proivde a vivid picture of the time and conflicts caused by the war. The book holds your interest from the first page.

Pigs In Heaven
Wonderfully written sequel to The Bean Trees. Kingsolver is a master at creating characters and settings - such imagery. You can hear the dialect, smell scene, and relate every emotion. Read the Bean Trees first but you will enjoy Pigs in Heaven even more.
