Replaces Carrier ECM 2.5 - works great
1 of 1 found this helpful Initially my Carrier furnace stopped working with code 41 (blower motor fault). Rebooting it did the trick a couple of times, until i code code 15 (Blower motor lockout). At this point rebooting did not work anymore. The technician's quote was $1800 to replace motor and fan entirely. Looking online I found that the probable culprit was just the motor control unit (ECM) because the motor itslef apperead to be ok and would freely rotate when manually turned. I found this ECM 3.0 that replaces my ECM 2.5. Shipping was super quick, thank you! Installation was easy for the ECM itself (2 screws, 2 connectors). However it is not trivial to access the ECM, as you have to remove the whole motor assembly, which required some work, and good tools (in particular a you will probably need a flexible shaft extension to your screwdriver to get to those hard to reach screws). There is a good video on youtube that shows how to disassemble to motor. Once the motor is out, replacing the ECM was easy and the furnace worked as new! I saved $1500. Sweet!
