    Elmarit-R 28mm V2 - still one of the best full-frame 28mm wides
I bought the 28-R V2 to use on a Sony A7R2 with a Novoflex Leica-R to Sony E adapter ring. Although the Nikon 28mm AIS f/2.8 I have used for years is also a very good lens, this is only true for distances up to about 50m. Beyond that the images are quite soft, limiting its use for landscape work. No such issue with the 28R V2! Sharp at all distances. The only trick is that for pixel-perfect corner-to-corner sharpness you need to use f8. At wider apertures (eg. f4, f5.6) the center is still fantastic, but the corners are now mush. OTOH there is very little barrel distortion, unlike nearly all modern lenses (eg. Sony FE 28mm) The mechanical build of the 28R V2 is also another huge plus. All metal. Built in rectangular lens-hood. And despite being 20 years old, the focus ring is still firm-but-smooth and the aperture ring provides satisfyingly firm half-stop clicks. The Nikon 28-AIS is no slouch here either, but the 28RV2 is in another league. There are no problems using the 28RV2 on the Sony AR7II. No corner smearing or colour shifts (unlike M wides). Of course there is no AF or EXIF info, but for the former - who cares? - and the latter can be easily addressed during post. The price? Yeah. Problem. But have you looked at the price of the similar vintage Summilux-R 50mm E60 or Summicron-R 90mm ASPH ?!...

    Lux 50mm E60
Arguably the "best" compact 50mm lens ever made. Some modern lenses can match it for optical quality, but not optical AND mechanical AND compactness. You buy this lens because it is a thing of beauty and the epitome of lens-manufacturing. Yes the price, more than ten years after they stopped being made, is ridiculously high. But think of it as lifetime purchase.

Good 1970s mystery movie. Image quality is okay, although not really blu-ray standard
