Great read about Cobb and early history of baseball
This book finally provides an accurate insight to the player and person of Ty Cobb as well as the personality of baseball at the turn of the century. The operation and play of amateur and professional baseball in the early 1900's had little resemblance to the modern game. I encourage you to read this if you have any interest in knowing the real Cobb and not the myth created by early newspapers and commentators and in more recent times, books by authors such as Al Stump. Works of fiction such as Stumps'only added to the misinformation and outright lies concerning Ty Cobb and the game played in that era.
