Charging Cradle and Battery Use works well when planned a bit. Works like a charm!
1 of 2 found this helpful The really helped me especially with our leaf blower. I have a couple of batteries so I can continuously switch batteries to keep going on clearing our yard which is heavily treed and slightly less than 0.75 acre in size. What I found was the Ryobi 40V Battery OP40401, 4Ah Lithium Ion took about 35 minutes to recharge in the cradle after being fully depleted. This was about an equal amount of time for me using the same size battery fully charge carefully (like not just holding the buttons down when not directly blowing leaves). I would just pop the used battery into the charging cradle and snap on a new one. When I finished the 2nd battery I would head in, hit the bathroom, check some emails and the first battery would be finished charging usually.
This also worked because I did NOT use the turbo setting on the blower which drains the battery faster. Using two 4Ah batteries and one smaller 2.6Ah that I got with the hedge trimmer in-between using the two larger batteries allowed me to continuously blow leaves for upwards of 1.5 hours which is everything around my complete yard.
BTW, the blower, again not on Turbo mode, did a very good job where I live in the northeast with large oak tree and poplar leaves in my yard, even when slightly damp after a drizzle (not soaking wet after a storm). On dry leaves, the blower had more than enough power and the batteries were able to run pretty well on length of time as described above. I did not get the bigger batteries (up to 6Ah) because the weight of the batteries would make the device a bit too heavy for my wife (as well as me) when using it with one arm (normal use).
Hope this helps everyone. Works like a charm!
