Doctor Who collection
1 of 1 found this helpful This set is great time slip back to the sixties and the beginning of the mania around our friend, the Doctor. These films change a couple of the ideas used in the tv series and are sometimes offensive to purists. Despite these differences and obvious generational kitsch, the movies were very enjoyable and moved at a decent clip. I applaud the combining of the two films and the addition of "Dalekmania" to round out this trinity- three in one. Fantastic!

Doctor Who- The Tenth Planet
The aging Doctor and companions encounter the cybermen for the first time. Interesting twist to the story as Earth's long lost twin planet comes back into orbit, which causes gravitational and electrical difficulties. The cybermen are humanoids who have forsaken their failing flesh for robotic bodies with only the brain living on. Did I forget to mention they do not have any emotions? These first cyber-incarnations are somewhat dated (with what passes for cybermen these days) and have an almost comical voice. I felt that this added to their creepy character. A lot happens in this four part serial (the original part four was lost so a reconstruction from telesnaps, surviving footage and complete audio track was substituted), the cybermen and their planet are destroyed after taking over, the Doctor and Polly are almost turned into cybermen (no emotion, no gender, no human weakness), and the Doctor regenerates for the first time (Patrick Troughton was brought in the carry on for the ailing William Hartnell). I would recommend this to anyone and everyone(if you remember that it was made back in 1966), you will enjoy a fantastic moment in television history.
