Not worth paying for, but if a friend has it to loan...........
The holes in the story line of this movie make sink holes in Florida look like dimples. Supposedly 1000 years after man has fled earth because he poisoned it so badly with pollution. And the earth is clean and pretty, though there isn't enough oxygen in the air for men to breath unaided. Large animals, though like Roc sized eagles and baboons breath just fine. The foliage is tropical and lush, but the atmosphere drops below freezing every night, the plants shrivel up and then open up lush and tropical the next morning. Uh-huh. Will Smith tells his son "Everything on this planet has evolved to hunt humans." 1) Nothing evolves much in 1000 years, especially higher animals. 2) If man has been gone for that 1000 years, how did the animals evolve to hunt them? Will Smith's performance is also pretty stiff. He's supposed to be able to suppress all fear, as a Ranger, but it never said anywhere he had to suppress all emotion. And his son (real life son playing the character's son) was just awful.

A film you will never forget
1 of 1 found this helpful As an adult I love the Disney movies even more than I did when I was a child. This is one of Disney's finest. The animation is excellent, the story is direct and simple. It flows, as all Disney movies do, from sadness and adversity to the happy ending seamlessly. It may not be as artistic as Sleeping Beauty or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but it is a top notch classic. If you or your kids haven't seen this, you are missing a real wonder.

Best Richard Chamberlain mini-series.
Probably Chamberlain's best mini-series. English ship's pilot Blackthorn and his Dutch crew are stranded in Japan and become entangled in their very complex web of politics. The acting is superb. The actors, when speaking Japanese, are actually speaking Japanese, instead of just some Japanese sounding gibberish. The two cultures are so different the characters have real trouble even trying to grasp some concepts. Life and death, fidelity, loyalty, cleanliness......
Well worth then cost.
