A work in progress from the beginning,
5 of 8 found this helpful So this gives you the basics of what you need to make a Viking fighting axe but its far from perfect. First, the axe comes with the head loose, secured only by a metric head set screw. The proper way to make a good axe is to fit the handle slightly loose to the head then cut a slit lengthwise for a wooden wedge to be driven in. (proper axes have no set screws) Once the wooden wedge has been driven in, steel wedges can be driven in across the width. NONE of this has been done. At least it has a nice hickory handle. The head is rough cast, and has a completely blunt edge. Nothing a draw file and a lansky puck cant fix. All in all. this is a project from the get go. If your willing to put in the elbow grease then its fine, but if you are not, get something else.
