Absolutely no advantage over an i7-960 unless you have a $200+ cooling syst
Unfortunately this processor only comes in revision C0 of the i7. X58 chips had a D0 revision which provides better stability, lower voltage hungry CPUs, and better cool idle temps.
This was the last chip with C0 stepping, since its replacement (i7-960), and all chips in production at the time received the revision.
With that aside this chip gives you major bragging rights. On my H70 it clocks to 4ghz with ease, and with a QPI speed of 6.4 GT/s, this thing provides endless processor power.

If you find it cheap, buy it... no hesitation.
So I found an amazing deal on three of these... and oh yeah, you know what comes next. Three WD Raptors in RAID 0, basically providing SSD read/write speeds.
Regardless, it still doesn't have that SSD "zippyness", but it provides incredible performance, storage, and value with just a simple RAID configuration on a couple of these.
