Epiphone Limited Edition Matt Heafy Les Paul Custom - Ebony

Searing tone and great fret access

Been playing Gibson and Epiphone Les Pauls and SGs for years. I also own a Japanese made Elitist Les Paul Standard Plus. This guitar is simply incredible. Good amount of weight, but not a back breaker. The EMGs scream distorted and are crytal clear when playing clean. There is a bump killswitch on the neck tone pot which is fun to play with. The neck is amazing. It's not really a 60s slim taper as advertised (which is what my other LP and SG both have). It's slightly thicker than that at the headstock but the closer to the body you get the thicker it gets. It's not as thick as a '59 round back neck either though. The axcess neck heel is simply amazing. Something every Les Paul should have. High fret access is a breeze. Tuners are solid and work excellent, ebony fingerboard is smooth and the inlays are fitted well, binding on the body neck and headstock are all excellent, and the pots and switch all work smoothly without any noise or popping. This is a solid guitar all around.

Huge quality downgrade from older versions

Recently purchased this item to replace a previous version (wonder wave type) from quite a few years ago. Was very disappointed to find the company has drastically changed the texture, elasticity, and density of the material these are made from. They are now sticky, really smooth, very flimsy, and very stretchy. All of which leads to it performing like a cheap knockoff worth a fraction of the price. There is very little feeling of friction or tightness due to the above.
