Sci-fi masterpiece from Makoto Shinkai.
A place promised in our early days is a hauntingly beautiful anime movie. A tale of lost love and seperation (a common theme in Shinkai's works) this is the director's first full length feature movie. I found this anime really stuck with me as its gorgeous visuals and interesting tale of alternate worlds really drew me in. Perhaps not as refined as his later works like Your Name or Weathering With You, this is still a work well worth checking out. The visuals alone are worth the price of admission. Highly recommended

Anime mecha classic is a must !
Patlabor is a late 80s early 90s mecha anime with a particularly realistic take on what the real world consequences of giant robots (labors) would be like. In this world, labors are mainly used for construction purposes. However, along with labors comes labor crime. To fight this new menace, a team of special police officers is formed to combat this new threat. Dubbed Patlabor (patrol labor) this quirky team of misfits tackle the daunting task of keeping the streets of Tokyo safe from rampaging robots run amok. This set contains the entire TV series, two OVA series, and three movies all in one set. I loved this show. I came for the mecha action but fell in love with the cast of interesting characters. I have to give a special shout out to Patlabor 2 the movie. This is truly a hidden masterpiece directed by famed anime director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell). This set was lots of fun to watch as there is quite a lot of variety between each of the episodes. Not your typical take on your standard giant robot anime, so buckle up and strap in for a ride with special vehicles division - section two as they tackle everything from terrorist attacks to just finding a decent place to deliver the food. Highly recommended.

Flying high with this hidden gem
I really enjoyed this Madhouse title. A socially outcast ace pilot is tasked to secretly transport the kingdoms princess to her betrothed prince charming of an allied nation. This is a lesser known title that seems to have "flown" under the radar, and it is well worth checking out. Highly recommended
