FIVE STAR SHINING BRIGHTER THAN EVER!
Finally, one of the BEST most underrated groups to emerge from the eighties British invasion gets a long-overdue video hits DVD. All of us true Five Star fans have eagerly been anticipating this video for YEARS (it was supposed to be available last year and was even up for preorder on HMV in England but was cancelled!)and now all i can do is watch it over and over and reminisce of that wonderful time period and this even more wonderful family group. For those of you unfamiliar with the group, Five Star was England's answer to the Jackson 5 during the eighties. They burst on the scene with such hits as the infectious "All Fall Down" (the song that sent everyone around the world to the dancefloors!), "Let me Be the One", "System Addict", "Can't Wait Another Minute", "If I Say Yes", "Rain or Shine" and "Strong as Steel" just to name a few. They LIVED in the Top 40 of the British charts from 1984-1989, made four WONDERFUL albums for the Tent/RCA label (of which the second "Silk and Steel" went all the way to number ONE in their native U.K.- the youngest and first all-Black group to accomplish this feat, THANK YOU!~)and even won the British equivalent of our "Grammy" in 1986 for "Best British Group"!. They even did a command performance for the Queen and toured internationally to rave reviews! Five Star were a wholesome, family act with GREAT looks, slick choreography and breathtaking vocals and harmony!!!The group was comprised of the Pearsons: Deniece, Delroy, Doris, Lorraine and Stedman, all brothers and sisters. Each group member contributed special factors to this outstanding group and this is one of the reasons why they were so popular. I was beginning college in 1985 and saw a video of them one night performing "All Fall Down" and have been in love with them ever since! In fact, I must really give them credit for helping me make it through those long four years of college because I was a music major and I woke up and went to sleep with Five Star EVERY DAY!!Their pictures engulfed my dorm room and when things got bad at times, they could always lift my spirits and bring me back to joy and happiness.The leaad singer Deniece, has one of the BEST PURE soprano voices in modern music and is a very gifted songwriter as well. She would put some of these so called "divas" of today to shame because they have nothing vocally compared to her! i could talk about this group all day but it would take that long! Anyway, the DVD "Performance" will speak for itslf in many ways. And it includes the very rare and hard to find videos of "There's a Brand New World" and "Let Me Be Yours" (both brilliantly written by Deniece from their fourth album "Rock the World").You also get "Treat Me Like a Lady" and "Hot Love" (both of these featuring Doris on lead) and "Shine"(Deniece at some of her best!). Five Star may not have been big here in America, but I KNOW for a fact they have a HUGE legion of fans here! U.S. fans will need a region-free DVD palyer to view this DVD (something I invested in YEARS ago because the U.K. has better music videos than the U.S.) and it runs about 95 minutes in playing time. Five Star has its place in the history books of music and If you're reading this review Pearson family, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all the joy and sheer happiness you have given to me and millions of others throughout the world. Nothing But "The Facts"
4 of 4 found this helpful One of the BEST sitcoms from the eighties, "The Facts of Life" was a weekly ritual with me as a teenager into my adulthood so I grew up with these girls. Not only entertaining but i loved how the story lines "taught" or "Inspired" you to think and do better with your life in real-world situations. loved each and every character but especially the bickering between Jo and Blair (just PRICELESS!). This box st has ALL the episodes plus ALL the movies and all at a FANTASTIC price!!! If you are a "Facts" fan like me, you just can't get any better with this box set! Buy it before it disappears forever! It will give you hours of GREAT memories of a time when our lives were SO MUCH BETTER and the world was more loving than it is right now! Thanks for all the wonderful memories Ms. Garrett, Tootie, Jo, Natalie and Blair! You will forever be in my heart!!!! Alvin Dotson, Memphis

Denise's Imprint is truly a "Five Star" gem!!!
Deniece Pearson is truly one of the greatest most underrated vocalists on the planet! I have LOVED her voice since she was the lead singer in Five Star (one of my all time favorite groups by the way)during the glorious eighties. Five Star were my life line in college from my freshman year with Luxury of Life to my senior year with Rock the World! They were the reason I made it through college!! This album "Imprint" has some AMAZING songs and the songwrtring is top notch as usual (Deniece is a SUPERB songwriter) with my favorite being "Imprint" the title cut. Also love "I Found My Flow" (neo-soul at its best), "Freakdance", "Its Better Than Love"" and the cover of Steve Winwood's "Higher Love" which she makes her own. Im a loyal Five Star and Deniece Pearson fan FOR LIFE!!! I have prayed that I can one day meet all of them and give them a big hug and thank you for bringing me 35 years of joy in my life and getting me through college and helping me attain my degree in music. Deniece you are truly an inspiration to me and again, keep singing and writing FANTASTIC songs. Love you forever!!!! God bless you always!!
