Great robot vacuum with disappointing smarts
Kevin, our Neato Botvac D3, has been a great addition to the family. He cleans the floor almost every day for us and even gets in spaces where I would avoid getting to because it's difficult to get to (under the couch). While the cleaning isn't perfect especially around the edges, it is noticeably cleaner and the air is so much better in our house without all of the dust.
While Kevin has been great and well worth the money, I was a little disappointed in the smarts it has. After doing the whole house mapping, I was expecting him to be very systematic on how he cleaned and very efficient, but that has not been my experience so far. He constantly turns and goes in weird paths and bumps into all sorts of things. He also gets stuck under chairs and end tables and then whines to me to get him unstuck. Even the seemingly simple things like finding his charging station can take up to 10-15 minutes.
All in all, the robot vacuum has been a great purchase for us and we don't regret spending the money at all. If you do end up getting a robot vacuum, be sure to clear your floor of any cords, blankets, clothes, or anything else that could be sucked up on the little one's journey.
