Mediocre Original Equipment wand release button.
It's an original equipment part. I've had to replace it three times - a little plastic button. It should never need replacing. It should be made of a better quality material. At around nine dollars, a little costly for a little plastic button. I don't blame the seller; I blame the vacuum manufacturer.
