The Gold Standard for a reason
1 of 1 found this helpful The GP-18 is the standard prybar for many geologists and prospectors—buy why? For starters, this bar is surprisingly light due to the I-beam profile; it almost feels like aluminum. Fear not, despite the feather weight for a bar of this size it is tough as nails. I have savagely pounded it with a 3-lb hand sledge to get into gold-bearing crevices without any fear of failure. The pry head is long and useful; with a little forethought it can definely move 300-lb boulders, and the polished flat surface allows you to pound the pry edge into all manner of nooks and crannies.
After months of abuse, the spike point remains sharp and bright. If you are looking for a superlative prybar that will never fail you and is simply a joy to use, the Estwing GP-18 is it. Now if only they'd make a cover for the spike!
