Excellent Design, Some Drawbacks
Pros: Excellent design for clamping onto the car's horizontal vents - best I’ve seen so far. Well padded. Matches and looks attractive in my silver car with black interior. Opens wide enough to fit pretty much any phone (easily fits any iPhone, including Plus and Max sizes). Cons: The springs that push the arms out on the side are soft and slow to expand. To open & release the arms, you have to press the release button behind and at the bottom of the device, which is not convenient or easily accessible. To make things worse, it’s not a quick release device - you have to continue holding the button until the springs push the arms out far enough to get your phone out. Would have dramatically preferred a quick release action, which I had on a previous different model. 2nd, the short length of arms on the side means that with my case installed on my phone, the arms do not cradle out far enough to safely keep my iPhone XR from falling back towards me during deceleration. You may experience this issue with Heavy and Tall phones with thicker cases. The depth of the side arms is about 3/4 of an inch. There is some angle to them which provides a partial cradling of the phone, but not much. If you have no case, you’ll be fine, but if you do have a thicker case you may have issues. My case + phone is close to 3/4 of an inch - right about the depth of the arms. I have to tilt the holder back towards the windshield to keep this from happening, which makes FaceID more complicated because the phone is at an angle where the camera isn't facing me.
