Hop in and enjoy the ride!
While decades of Christian artists have come and gone, Phil Keaggy keeps pouring out great music like some Spirit-filled Energizer Bunny. Also notice how his faith and commitment to family have remained intact in a career that has a tendency to devour such things! Randy Stonehill's vocals blend well with Phil's in this album, and the friendship between the two musicians is quite evident as they romp through a joyful collection of songs. The overall mood and message is light-hearted, though not shallow or trite, but there is a playful humor that permeates even the photography!
Kill Bill Vol. 1 (DVD, 2004)
    Jul 19, 2017
    NOT 4 ME
I have a friend name Bill, whom I often want to kill, so finally watching this flick seemed like a reasonable alternative (as well as a possible source for some verbal ammunition to confront his ongoing contentiousness)! The trailer seemed interesting, featuring a brand of humor that is obviously on the macabre side, but outrageous and not to be taken too seriously. Unfortunately, the first fifteen minutes of the movie itself were enough to convince me that this is not the sort of thing I want to feed my brain. (This may seem a little prudish, but shouldn't be considered any more ridiculous than passing up a sweet appealing slice of chocolate cake in order to exercise the wisdom and discipline necessary to avoid the excess calories and ugly weight gain). That being said, I'm pretty sure there was more bad than good that ended up in my trash can! I don't find blood and gore entertaining, nor do I enjoy a constant onslaught of foul language. I hear enough of that at work! I'm also a little creeped out by that fact that the actor who played Bill did a pretty good job of killing his own self.

ADVENTURE COMICS #415 1972 SUPERGIRL GGA COVER DC BRONZE AGE GIANT 52 PAGES!
    Sep 04, 2016
Out of this World Fashion Show
Adventure Comics #415 from February 1972 is part of a fascinating run of this Bronze Age DC comic book beginning with issue #397 where Supergirl debuts a new outfit based on designs sent in by the readers. After sporting the new threads for several issues, she somehow ends up with a whole wardrobe of super outfits, some of which she dons for only an issue or two. My personal favorites are the evening gown she wears on a date for a few panels in issue 402 and the skimpy Kirby-looking outfit she kinda wears in issue 409. While super outfits tend to change with time and get updated periodically, this idea of a super wardrobe is fairly unique and, in my opinion, brilliant! What super-girl would want to fly around every day in a costume that everyone had already seen?!? This particular issue, #415, includes two self-contained Supergirl stories, the first of which is referenced on the cover and features a funky new outfit with a bizarre color scheme. The second story puts her back in the familiar hot pants she ends up wearing for the next several years and has her flying around in space at all sorts of interesting angles. The best part of the issue, by far, is the letter column where a female reader complains about Supergirl flying around in hot pants! Keep in mind that the style of both story and art is transitioning from the Silver Age of comics to the Modern Age and you will find much to enjoy about this earlier version of a character now popular on television.
