    Master of its genre.
For anyone who hasn't read the Patrick O'Brian novels, this will get you running for the bookshop. As a film, it stands out on its own. Brilliantly cast and superbly acted. It follows the story of Captain 'Lucky Jack' Aubrey's dogged pursuit of a French warship and their eventual battle. Depicting the harsh life endured by our 18th and 19th Century sailors, the battle scenes are suitably horrific, as are the memorable scenes of the ship's orlop in the battle's aftermath. Compared to the books, however, it will come as an enfuriating disappointment. The film-makers make no use, whatsoever, of the ship's surgeon's double identity as a British Intelligence Agent - a crying shame in my opinion, as Paul Bettany was so perfectly cast to carry off either aspect of Dr Maturin's complex character. Instead, the Doctor is simply portrayed as a somewhat limp-wristed eccentric. Hopefully, there will be another film to set the record straight. I will be the first to buy it, if there is. Great stuff and well worth a look, or 6!!

    HARD TO FIND IN SHOPS
I have looked for weeks for brass curtain hooks. but without success. These caught my eye and I initially purchased a small quantity to see if they were any good - they are! Arrived promptly and are as good a quality as shown and nice and solid in design. No matter how heavy, your curtains won't be sagging with these.

    Total Lunacy
We loved these series and, therefore, the DVD's. Lunacy at it's absolute best. Very, very silly and totally hilarious. Am now going out to buy a golf cart.
