Yes, it's all it's cracked up to be; expensive, but worth it.
3 of 3 found this helpful So far everything about this lens is superlative: It focuses noticeably faster than my older non-VR Nikkor 80-200; it zooms very smoothly and holds its position. The VR works great, image at 1/100th of a second is in super crisp focus with great color and contrast. Viewfinder image is bright.

Well designed; the way the cable attaches is nice, cable won't fatigue at the screw.
