War movie that’s better than it is given credit for.
While I do agree that some of the love story leading up to the Pearl Harbor bombing could have been trimmed, it is still a sweet love story, and the Pearl Harbor battle sequences are nothing short of incredible, as is the bombing of Tokyo. A lot of people hate on Michael Bay and Ben Affleck, and sometimes rightfully so, but I believe some of Michael Bay’s movies are hated on for no good reason. Pearl Harbor is a better movie than people give it credit for. The R rating in this edition makes the battle scenes much more intense, and Cuba Gooding Jr. shooting down the Japanese Zero plane is still one of the best scenes in dramatic action film.

Simply a fun movie
A lot of people hate on Michael Bay, but I find his older movies entertaining. Armageddon is one of those movies. It’s a fun movie, and I am not afraid to admit that I like it. The criterion DVD video quality is sharp, and the extra footage fits well.
