Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill (Reissue) (NEW 12" VINYL LP)

Steely Oldie but Newie Very Goody

I probably thought i was buying a "used" copy ... so it sounds silly ,but i was almost disappointed that the cover wasn't "dog eared" and the vinyl a little scratched and scuffed ... with a label proclaiming 1972 ( if that's right?) ... but this is obviously a tremendous new production ... The percussive intro to "Do It Again" never sounded better or more immersive to me ... seems to go on much longer than it ever did ... the different vocalists are even more apparent "Dirty Work" is so lucid and beautiful ... "Midnight Cruiser" sounds amphetamine fuelled ... but of course the most familiar vocals of Donald Fagen double tracked to start with ... then crazily good with each successive track, seduce us into what became the "Steely Dan" sound we came to know and love. I only ever owned this album on cassette before now ... this is a truly great aural investment!

Audiolab 8000A Stereo Integrated Amplifier Great Condition

A classic that i'm now proud to own ... but NOT an "Ebay bargain"

Having become a sort of "vintage HiFi collector" ... or a "second hand but still working like new" HiFi collector via Ebay ... an Audiolab 8000A was on my wishlist ... A friend of mine had one from new and i always admired his system. I put "not good value" because as an Ebay purchase it does not represent any sort of "bargain". I've ended up paying almost the same amount ( over £300 including the postage) as the amp cost in 1983 ! However, it is a very clean "like new" example ... i can't see any marks on it, and it seems to work perfectly. To make it clear , i'm NOT complaining , it's exactly what i wanted.
