Excellence throughout

An excellent recording, handsomely cast (except for the too plaid boy soprano), and effective use of period instruments. Terfel is very emphatic as Elijah, which is effective though more. operatic than oratorio-like. It works here. "Great God of Abraham" is movingly done. The set arrived in near-mint condition and in a timely fashion. Excellence throughout.

Strathern knows how to break down ideas into a lean, lucid, and compellingly presented narrative. Spinoza is noted for his profound thought and dense literary style., but Strathern captures his essence with marvelous wit and keen judgment.
