Notes for DIY mechanics
Went to fit this when my old rubber (original) boost pipe split, luckily my local mechanic was cycling past as I tried (and struggled) to force the new pipe onto the the lower connector down behind the bumper, and so he gave me a couple of good pointers:
1.) Use a heat gun/hairdryer on the pipe to warm it up so it fits on nice and snug. I couldn't get it on before he gave me this tip (kind of obvious I know....)
2.) In most of the cases my mechanic has dealt with, and certainly my case (Jag X-Type Estate 2.0D, 55 plate, SE spec), the pipe is about 2" too long! If you don't cut it down, it has a kink and reduces airflow and risks damaging the turbo. With a bit of swearing and a Stanley knife, I cut mine down in-situ, but it wasn't the best job and if I'd have had more time, I'd have removed it and cut it down properly on the workbench.
Otherwise, great product, cheers!
