Plug and play connection, clear audio with zero latency, need an optical splitter if you're already using a soundbar
Fantastic direct stream of tv audio straight to hearing aids. No latency, no distortion.
This makes it comfortable for my husband to clearly hear the conversation of tv and movies.
Pros:
- super easy plug and play. * * if you already have something connected in your optical port however (we have a soundbar), you'll need to get an optical port splitter. Very inexpensive on Amazon. Using a splitter allows the TV Play to utilize the optical port for better quality audio, while still being able to still use a soundbar for better overall audio for everyone else.
- husband no longer needs captions and doesn't strain to hear tv conversations anymore
- very easy and quick connection, defaults to the tv setting whenever the tv is on
Cons:
- because the audio is streaming directly into his hearing aids, this also means that he's less able to hear other things going on around him. He therefore, typically only uses this when we're watching a movie or tv show where dialogue is important. For example, when we're watching a sporting event, he takes his hearing aids off the tv setting, and just listens to the sports commentary like everyone else is. That way, he can hear the rest of us commenting, cheering and complaining about the officiating.
- automatic connection to the tv setting whenever the tv is on also means that as soon as he pulls into the garage, he can hear the audio of whatever tv show is on upstairs. This isn't necessarily a downside, but just something to be aware of.
