KNOW YOUR BIBLE!!!
I have always enjoyed reading God's Word. From the first time I began reading "The Message" I saw it contained a modernized version I really enjoyed. It has given me new insite of the words that I've known for so long and made me now look further into many of it's passage contents. I, unfortunately, can't give it an Excellent rating because "The Message" does "skip out" on several different verses mostly through out the New Testament. I have read some of these and really quite can't understand why Dr. Peterson would have left some of these verses out since they weigh in quite heavily into the passage. I do point out, it's more for the bible students (or as my Pastor says, "Bible scholars") because as it can help it may also mislead. I'm sure you have read some of the negative things so I'll give you an example of something I personally liked. On Psalm 91:15 the King James reads: "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him." (KJV). The Message reads: "Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you, then throw you a party." Can you believe that?!?!?! The Maker of heaven and earth will not only hear me, answer me and be with me in bad times but He will even throw a party in my honor! Show me off to His friends. Tell them all the good things about me. I find these good, penetrating parts and see the ones that are missings and follow the words of the Apostle Paul, "...retain what is good and reject what is not."

The Poetry of Today - For the Spirit filled
