Not the best but very good
In addition to this Microsoft LifeCam 5001, I have a Logitech C500 and an AUSDOM AW615. This camera has good focus and image quality but the Logitech is the best of the three. It was a snap to set up. I use all 3 cameras in a motion detection security program on a Win XP 32-bit machine.

Will not stay in focus
This manual focus camera is suitable for Skype but will not work as a security camera because it only stays in focus for 10 minutes or so. The software that comes with it is junk but I was able to set the camera up on my Win 10 64-bit PC in 5 minutes. The camera swivels on its stand too much, making the stand useless. You would be better off duct taping it to something. I intend to buy another type of camera to replace it. At $20 it was worth a gamble that I lost.

This little device works like a charm
What can I say, it does what it is supposed to do--no drivers to install. I used it on my 64-bit Win 10 PC with a notebook hard drive. Transfer speed seemed normal. The only way they could improve it is to make it work using only one USB port.
