An under-appreciated classic.

VERY underrated band. This album marked a high-water point (no pun intended) for them because it's one of those works where you listen to it all the way through; each song stands on its own quite well which was rare in its day and unheard of now in the teens. These days a good song is unusual and these guys kept it up for a whole album...maybe that's why everything's so singles-oriented now - the current crop and their buying audience is too ADD to bother with albums. TOB sounded pretty British for 4 guys from Pennsylvania and they wore their songwriting and production influences with pride. They're making a comeback of sorts lately and I hope they're able to translate all that previous effort into enough success to keep TOB moving along under its own power. Interestingly, frontman David Schelzel moved to Minneapolis after their label let them fizzle in the 90s and took a position as an intellectual property attorney in a firm that eventually had him representing Prince in divorce proceedings. That should be some indication of the guys behind the music...they know exactly what they're doing. This is the second time I bought this album; I leant my first copy to a friend and realized I would be waiting a long time to get it back so I replaced it and managed to increase their fan base, even if only by one person. Long live The Ocean Blue!

Downward expansion rocks!

Clean, clear signal processing, uncolored and accurate. These units are totally underrated...for analog tracking, I like these much more than Dolby. Saves a lot of time/work both before and during the mixing phase.
