What's the deal?
With each new season dvd they include fewer and fewer episodes. But, of course, at the same cost. This is bogus!

deep thoughts on a deeper Subject
This is a great little book about a massively important subject. The Apostle Paul said, in relation to ministry in decadent Corinth, "I determined to know nothing among you, except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." John Piper probes into what Jesus Christ crucified means and he does a great job. Read Paul's words, ponder them, feed on them, live them, and let Piper help you.

If You Want The Word of God ...

From ancient text, through accurate transition, to modern tongue ... Or from Inspiration, through Transmission and Preservation, to Translation... This is the goal.
The NASB accounts for all the sources. It stands on the best scholarship. It translates accurately into modern understandable language. It is one of the top two accurate and readable translations out there today. The other is the ESV. But the old RSV is great too.
I'm sorry but the NIV and the KJV miss it by a mile. The simply do not meet the above goal. If you read the introduction to the Greek Text used for the NIV, (The Readers Greek New Testament) it comes right out and says that they intentionally used the weakest, most inaccurate texts, in order to provide a scholarly alternative to the Nestle-Aland text. The KJV used only one text tradition as it's basis, and is stuck in ancient language, which often has different meaning from today, and is very difficult (impossible?) to understand in many cases.
We want original text, through accurate transition, into modern tongue. NASB does it well. Read it. Study it. Ponder it. Live it. It is God's Word.
