iPOD Nano 5th Generation

The Nano is a very impressive device in a small lightweight package with loads of features. I considered the Shuffle, but having the controls in the headphone line seems to be a detriment. The key items that justified the additional cost of Nano over the Shuffle were; better control pad, screen, video capability, built in speaker, and FM receiver - a lot of bang for the buck! The use of iTunes to transfer content between your computer and iPOD takes some practice. I wanted to download one photo and it took the entire director (30 some) pictures. Then I had problems deleting the unwanted pictures - end up creating a directory with only the photos that I wanted and re-syncing. iTunes also gives you a large volume of content that you can download to your iPOD. Because I'm very new to ownership (just a couple of days), I cannot provide any comments on battery life. The information from Apple's web site says 24 hours for playback and 5 hours for video. Both seem reasonable and if you use both modes the battery life will decrease. I expect to use the playback mode mostly, so the 24 hour is more than adequate. Because the Nano only comes with a USC cable without a AC adaptor, out of the box you have to charge the battery from a powered USB port on a computer. AC power adaptors and car charges are availible on the market so you do not have to have a compter available to recharge the battery. I'm looking forward to many hours of enjoyment from my Nano. I hope that I've given you some insight to my reasons for picking the Nano over other devices so you can make a more informed decision in your MP3 play purchase.

Feeding The Birds

We love our Mourning Doves, and they love the Safflower. We mix it with some mullet, and we attract only Mourning Doves and Quail. Once in a while we'll get an odd bird that visits.

I needed a backup adapter

I have apple iPads and needed an extra charging adapter to keep in my travel case. This is the same adapter that came with my iPads. Now I can just grab my travel case and not worry about having a charger adapter for my iPad when I'm on the road. BTW - I'm completely satisfied with this. As it is an Apple power adapter, I don't have to worry about it having the wrong currently capacity or it causing any issues with the warranty. And the price tag was less then going to the Apple store. To me this was a great find.
