Based on a real diary, Eric Sloane fills us in on a year in this young man's life in 1805; the book is wonderfully illustrated with the simple line drawings and art for which Sloane is famous. The late Mr. Sloane has a knack for bringing history to life in all his wonderful books. This story is also filled with much practical knowledge that our ancestors knew, but most of us have never learned. A great book, suitable for a young adult.

Love 'em. Still available for around $10. I know they aren't solid or even 90% silver, still ... they aren't making any more of 'em. Great piece of history.
