    X10 Universal Module - Powerhouse UM506/Radio Shack 61-2687 & Others ~ Used
    Oct 08, 2018
Great units that expand the control capabilities of any X10 installation.
These units -- which are in essence a controlled relay -- are very useful if you want to use X10 beyond it's base capabilities of switching lamps and appliances on and off. I use them primarily for controlling props in big Halloween setup I do in my front yard every year. They are perfect for triggering audio chips and animation circuits to run or any other external item that can be activated by low voltage. The only possible "negative" I've heard some people complain about with these is that they make a distinct click sound when switching on or off, but in my applications that is not an issue. Frankly am not sure why some users are bothered by it; perhaps they are using them in a manner where the units are being turned on and off in rapid fashion continuously, in which case i could see constant clicking being annoying

Walthers O Decals Pabst-Ett Cheese Billboard Reefer 1167
    Jan 31, 2017
    Older Walthers Decals hold up
I used these 34 year old Walthers O gauge decals to re-finish a 1970s MPC era Lionel wood-sided reefer. After repainting the car to cover up the old (and tacky) original graphics and giving it a spray coat of glossy clear acrylic, I went to work applying the decals. They released from the paper backing after only a brief soak and slid onto to the model easily. After carefully adjusting their placement, I brushed them with Champion decal-set solution, which softened the decal film, making it conform to the wood paneling on the car perfectly. Final finish was two thin coats of matte acrylic spray. The end result is an authentic looking 1920 era reefer with graphics that literally look like they were painted on.
