I read other reviews that stated they had to remove the metal band to get to fit the boot. I have the MSD 8.5mm Plug wires with the 90' spark plug boot end. I pulled the spark plug boot off the wire and slid the protector on backwards with the metal ring side facing the distributor, put the boot back on the wire. A little lubrication helps get the boot off and on. pulled the protective cover over the boot once I snap it back onto the plug. Works without having to mess with the ring on the 8.5mm wires. Id give it a 5 star if it fit the boot.
