Boxing and Wrestling championship belts
Essential reading for any boxing fan who remembers the old day`s of British Boxing, and the great boxing venues like The Ring, Blackfriars, where men would punch each other to a standstill, and where the referee would stand back and let the boxers fight even with blooded noses, mouths, and cut eyes. Unlike today where the smallest cut means the end to a fight, even if it is for a championship belt, or title.
Sadly the book doesn`t recall the Lord Lonsdale Belts that were awarded to wrestlers, there were six belts in all Lemm, Crozier, Rose, Cherpillod, Berry, and Peter Gotz..
Bert Assirati the greatest British heavy-weight wrestler 1930 - 1960 was also supposed to have been awarded a Lonsdale belt in 1936 for his services to wrestling.
