    Well recommended!
This puzzle is brilliant! Amazing and ingenious design, and constructed with very exact tolerances. Unfortunately I just happened to figure it out fairly quickly. But it been a good conversation piece, and I've had folks fiddling with it for hours trying to figure it out. Definitely looking forward to acquiring more Hanayama puzzles.

    Less "hit", more "miss".
I'm a huge Filter fan, have been for many years, got all the albums. I was really looking forward to this album, especially after the hype of Richard producing it and aiming to get back to industrial roots. And as the singles have been posted up pre-release, things looked to be on track. When Mother E in particular came out, I thought, "Hell yeah, *this* is the Filter we've been waiting for!" Unfortunately, the album just isn't that good. Musically it pursues some interesting ideas, and I'm loving some of the new sounds being tried. But for starters, it suffers the same problem as Anthems For The Damned and The Trouble With Angels - to put it bluntly, it's just too damned preachy. Regardless of what the message is, when you push getting a message out ahead of the music, the music will suffer. And it'd be safe to say the people who buy Filter records don't do so for the lyrical profoundities, we want to hear some kick-arse hard-hitting music. The preaching seriously detracts from the music. Going back to the new sounds, I love when bands try new things, exploring new sounds and the like. But the problem there (and again, one that featured on The Trouble With Angels) - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This album has a bit of both. Richard has tried some new things on this album. Some of it works, but some of it really doesn't. But the number one issue I have with this album, and one for which there really is no excuse for imo - the actually sound quality on this album is shockingly sub-par! On the whole, it's an over-compressed and clippy wall of mush. The Sun Comes Out Tonight was pushing it, but that album was ultimately still listenable. Crazy Eyes of the other hand, it's just ridiculous. The bad sound quality is that much of a distraction that I've actually found it very hard to listen to the whole album (when you can hear the compression kicking in, you know it's bad!). How it was allowed to go to release in that state I do not know. But it's pretty inexcusable. And quite a shame as well. Because if it weren't for the bad sound, it's still an album I reckon I could enjoy and play a lot more. As it is, it's become more of a regret complete-the-collection purchase than an album I'll be listening to much. Still a fan! I just really hope that next time they do a better job.
