An Odd Departure for Beatle Paul
Let me preface this review by saying that I am a HUGE Beatles fan and have no qualms about spending what I did on this CD. Having said that, I am thankful that I got this for only $8.99, as it is very much for me a "novelty" type album of Sir Paul's. Those seeking traditional music (Let alone traditional McCartney-esque music) will no doubt be EXTREMELY disappointed, as my wife was, another HUGE Beatles fan.
Although there are several minutes of this album that are filled with just plain noise (for lack of a better description), a more generous way to think of this CD is as "Revolution #9 Meets the 21st Century".
I did find the snippets of studio chatter from John, Paul, George, and Ringo to be quite charming, and quite frankly it was the promise of these moments that prompted me to make the purchase in the first place. However, if you are looking for something a bit more mainstream, but still with a touch of avante-garde flavor from Sir Paul, I highly recommend his 2008 "Electric Arguments" album credited to his alter-ego, The Fireman instead of this one from 2000.

An Excellent Read
4 of 4 found this helpful This is an excellent book that any die-hard Beatles fan will love. It was written 25 years ago, but it tells a side to the Beatles story that is often missing or just brushed over in other bios of the group. The focus is really on the personal lives of the Beatles and the people within their circle, inlcuding Stu Sutcliffe, Brian Epstein (and the creation of NEMS Enterprises), and others. The book also looks at some of the impact that the Beatles had as a cultural phenomenon in both the US & UK during the 60's, which was my primary reason for the purchase. Highly recommended.
