good amplifier, crappy sound quality
2 of 3 found this helpful This amplifies pretty well as a 30watt amplifier, no idea what that 600 watt rating is talking about. It will not sound great but will get the job done.

I love the Audiolab 8300A
I bought this amplifier to replace my 25-year old Yamaha receiver. I put off getting a new amplifiers for years because I thought it couldn't get much better without spending a fortune, but I've been thinking about upgrading due to the trend of more affordable high-end designed products. This thing with it's torroidal transformer, dual mono design with 4 mosfets per channel plus a bunch of other smaller transistors, the design of this looks very similar to integrated amplifiers at much higher price points. The balanced input is really great, I never really used a balanced connection from the DAC to the amplifier before. This thing sounds amazing. I love it. The Phono pre-amp is very good. I haven't sampled a ton of hifi equipment or anything but compared to my old decent amplifier, I almost can't believe how good this sounds. I used to always use a graphic equalizer between my source and the amplifier but everything from classical to hip-hop, electronic, jazz, whatever just sounds so good from the direct balanced source, I haven't had much opportunity to listen to much except jazz and hip hop through the phono preamp but I'm confident it will be the same there.

It's a phone
Do the responsible thing and use these perfectly good phones, there's nothing wrong with them, they're more durable and just as reliable as an iphone or a blackberry.
